The Club Plan Members increased by one (1) to 206. Charity Bonney completed the Club Plan document. Walter Wuehler made a donation of $400.00, an increase from 2024. Discussion ensued to explain the donation in lieu of dues as a result of the Wuehlers refusing to join the Club Plan. The Treasurer’s report was approved. Badge Day is set for Saturday June 7th from 10am to 12 Noon at the Big Beach.
Tony had nothing to report with respect to Security. John Lloyd has been checking badges when he does his rounds. Fred Malone emailed that the Little Beach was status quo. John Villa asked Marty to advise the Board that he will begin working on the Lake Lowering Permit Application for the Fall of 2025.
Marty explained the 2 Lake Management Sciences (“LMS”) Service Reports. May 12th a large Sonar application was applied in the lake to address the Curlyleaf and Milfoil. Chris has been fighting the rain which dilutes the effectiveness of the treatment. He followed up on May19th with smaller doses of Sonar in targeted areas. The Curlyleaf is breaking down. Chris has to wait to treat a problem area south of the Big Island due to heavy rains this past Saturday. LMS will post Treatment signs on the two bulletin boards the beaches.
Maureen reported that Bob Pepsis Jr. is joining the Club Plan. She will coordinate the forms to be completed with the notary. Charity Bonney has to pay the 2025 dues. Maureen was checking a property on Kemah Mecca Road that has renters. It appears the property Block 1203 Lot 5 is owned by Lutz who was sent the special letter to join the Club Plan. Maureen may speak with Santiago family that rents the house to see if Lutz might consider joining.
Tony mentioned that the State had done aerial spraying for gypsy moths in Hampton Township along Fairview Avenue for Bear Swamp. There was a noticeable effect on the infestation. Bob Fox asked if anyone found a fishing license around the Little Beach and could Kemah Lake spray for ticks on the grass at both beaches.
Jenny Streeter asked what are the terms of the KL Board of Trustees and the election process. Some members are asking in order to consider being a candidate for the upcoming election in September. Mike said the term is 3 years and 4 Trustees are up for election: Maureen, Marty, Bob Fox and Mike Nicomini. Fred Malone plans to step down and Shawn Powers has expressed an interest to join the Board. Jenny agreed to write up a notice to members to be emailed & posted on the website. She suggested that we consider calling for volunteers to spread sand on another day and time to avoid conflicts with Saturday sports for families. Jenny discussed the option for Kemah Lake to outsource sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, decals etc.to handle orders anytime and receive some revenue. She will research options and report back. Tony asked about paying for a drone to scan the lake and put links on the website to showcase the beauty of Kemah Lake throughout the year. Discussion was postponed.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.
